Royalty-based licensing is the most common type of licensing model. In this model, the licensor receives a percentage of the licensee’s sales revenue as a royalty payment. The royalty rate is typically negotiated as a percentage of the net sales or gross profits generated by the licensed images on products. Royalty-based licensing is beneficial for both parties, for the one that licenses not to pay the big sum from the beginning and to test the market and for the licensors because it allows them to earn revenue without product production costs.

Flat fee licensing

Flat fee licensing is a licensing model, particularly for digital illustration, digital cards or invitation design. In this model, the licensor charges a flat fee for the right to use their intellectual property. Flat fee licensing is beneficial for licensees because it provides them with predictable costs and allows them to budget for licensing expenses. You can license to use my illustrations, paintings or create a custom-made image.
